"Basketful of Memories"
written by
Cindy Prince
Basket of apples
Swinging
As I tag along singing
Following my brother
Sitting on Mother's lap
As I take my first bite
The skin tight
On my teeth
Sitting underneath
The golden apple tree
As juice runs down my chin
And I go back again
A basketful of memories
Ripe as the apples
In my mind
Cindy Prince is married with 4 children. She works part time at a library and writes both poetry and songs. Her poems have been published in Prairie Home Companion, and several in The Ozarks Mountaineer magazine.
