The Eastern Area Agency on Aging (EAAA) - Serves as Piscataquis County’s Aging & Disability Resource Center, offering vital supports like options counseling, Medicare and insurance assistance, caregiver education, adult day services, legal aid, and nutrition programs such as Meals on Wheels. As the central access point for services, EAAA helps residents with disabilities and older adults navigate care options and long-term planning.

Penquis - The local community action agency, provides monthly on-site access to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in Dover-Foxcroft. This allows residents to meet eligibility specialists from DHHS locally—eliminating the need to travel long distances for benefit and service applications. Penquis also offers Behavioral Health Residential Supported Living, providing shared-home or apartment-based supported living throughout the county. These services deliver 24/7 rehabilitative care tailored to individuals’ needs, providing assistance with daily living activities, health and safety, communication and social skills, access to community resources, and help coordinating transportation or appointments.

MC Community Services - Supports children and youth (ages 2–20) across Piscataquis County by providing Section 28 day support programs. These in-home and community-based services—with one-on-one behavioral support and aid for individuals with Autism, Developmental Delays, ADHD, or intellectual disabilities in developing daily living and life skills.

Maine Highlands Broadband Coalition - Bridges connectivity and literacy gaps that can disproportionately impact individuals with disabilities. Led by the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council, advances equitable internet access, tech education, and digital support. This increases access to telehealth, online resources, and digital inclusion.

Penquis – Dover-Foxcroft (Charlotte White Support Services, CWSS) - Operates a local site at 50 North Street that provides both Behavioral Health Home Organization services and Community Supports / Day Program services. Through CWSS, people with intellectual disabilities receive supports in the community: group-based day programming, meaningful social and skill-building activities, volunteer opportunities, and assistance with daily living or community inclusion. The same Penquis office offers transportation services, including rides for MaineCare appointments, trips to medical providers, grocery shopping, and other essential destinations. The service is available to people with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and those with low income; some rides are free or low cost depending on funding and the situation.

Community Health & Counseling Services - Offers mental health and behavioral health care, case management, home health and hospice services, and supports for children and families. These services assist people with disabilities—especially those with mental health or behavioral health needs—to receive assessment, therapy, ongoing support, and coordination of care.

The Charlotte White Center (CWC) - Provides a range of support services including case management and residential services. The Center helps individuals with disabilities access community supports, home services, and disability-related services in collaboration with other local agencies.

“Piscataquis Thriving in Place (TiP) Collaborative” - A local initiative focused on helping older adults and vulnerable populations (including people with disabilities) to age in place. TiP works on things like increasing transportation access, expanding home-based services, caregiver support, and building a stronger resource and referral network in the community.

Greenville General Assistance Program - Provides short-term help for people who are unable to cover basic needs like housing, utilities (electric/heat), food, and fuel. Applicants may receive vouchers or aid to address emergencies or immediate financial shortfalls. This can be especially important for individuals with disabilities who face unexpected expenses or interruptions in income. Town of Greenville, Maine

The Maine Office of Aging & Disability Services (OADS) - Offers older adult and disability services covering Greenville: home-based supports, assistive technology, legal/advocacy, safety monitoring, and more. Their waivers for intellectual/developmental disability or autism (Sections 21 & 29) provide services such as therapy, transportation, work support, equipment, and case management. These state programs are accessible to eligible Greenville residents.

Greenville Recreation Department - Offers programs and leisure opportunities (exercise classes, movement & meditation, fitness center, etc.) that are intended to be accessible and affordable. While not all programs are specific to disabilities, many are structured to allow participation by all citizens and typically cost little or by donation. This supports social inclusion, physical wellness, and community connection.
