"orbital brain"

written by

Krista K. Miranda with contributions by Cynthia Ling Lee

your brain is in orbit

your brain cannot find quiet without movement

your brain’s wanderings test the boundaries

                                            of your equilibrium

setting your limbs into motion

come to stillness

journey into your skull through the portal of your forehead

let the skull hum from inside

tune in to the dance reverberating in your brain

your brain cannot find quiet without movement

your brain spreads out across the body

spills out into the space

the space is your brain

turn the space inside out

Queer/crip artist/scholar Krista K. Miranda, Ph.D., explores the nuances of embodiment, imagines better futures for queer and crip life, and recuperates the figure of the nonreproducing woman. Miranda’s artistic practices encompass dance, poetry, miniature installation art, experimental filmmaking, and collaborative work steeped in radical care.
