"Best Kind"

written by

Cinders in a jar
       Photo in my wallet

A Name
        w/capital N
                Part of a project
                         Name on The Quilt

Flowers on his grave
he didn't even like flowers

Tin hear 4 music
        Art,
                Antiques & Judy Garland
Why should I like fairy stuff
       just because I like men?

Cars & baseball
Not deep
Not smart
Not my lover
my fuck–buddy, best kind

Always he wanted cremation
        A practical sort
It's the engine, not the body
        How fast it turns
God, how he loved sucking dick

Melting
        but he was not a
        candle in the wind

A Name on the Quilt
        Makes him a purpose
                A cause

The patch that's his patch
        Jag, Corvette
                Bat, Cap, & Diamond
No Glory Hole But glory

I know why I held him crying
Why I liked him & lusted
But didn't quite love
my fuck–buddy, best kind

I know some things
& not others &
One of the things I don't know
        is
           why
                   I put
Flowers on his grave
he didn't even like flowers
he wasn't a fairy
even tho he was
