"Plan Ahead"

I understand that
If you're dying of cancer
Life comes into focus.
And all the small stuff
Is revealed as truly small.
Only what will remain
For the next hundred years
Matters.

If you live with depression
Life may not quite focus,
But remember the small stuff
Is still quite small.
Focus on what will matter
In a hundred years
And all of the rest
Will quietly fall into place.

Even if you can't get to it all
You can get to what counts
In a hundred years.

So plan ahead.

"Freefall"

I'm out of medication
and uninsured.
It's wearing off.
It's coming back.
Help me, Jesus,
I want to feel normal again.
But normal
costs about 80 bucks
and I'd rather be sick
than homeless.

Wendy S. Delmater has had a love affair with the written word and hidden worlds for her entire life. Once disabled, it was natural that she would wish to describe the world of a person suffering from depression so that others could get an accurate glimpse.
