UNICEF is calling all young people to contribute to the text of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

  The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is calling all young people to contribute to the child-friendly text of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Contributions will help children and youth with disabilities to better understand their human rights. Responses must be submitted by 9 November 2007. Youth are asked to read the child-friendly text (available in MSWord and PDF format at
http://www.unicef.org/voy/takeaction/takeaction_cfc_questionnaire.php

then answer the following:

From reading what is written on the first few pages of the child-friendly text, do you:
· Understand why this document is important for children?
· Understand why children should know about the Disability Convention?
· What words and ideas are difficult to understand?
· Do you have concrete suggestions on how to explain certain words or ideas so that kids understand? How would you explain them?
· What are your suggestions to make this document more appealing to children?
· What do you think you can do so that others (your friends, people in your school and in your community) know about the Convention and the rights of children with disabilities?
