Trusts Made Easier in Maine

Steve Hoad

On Monday, August 21, the Portland Press Herald featured an effort created to help families and friends set up special needs trusts for people with disabilities.

"Parents of disabled get a tool to help with care A nonprofit corporation helps parents of all income ranges to set up a trust fund for their child." Is at http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/state/060821trust.shtml

You can find detailed information about the effort at http://www.themainetrust.com

These trusts are not the answer for everyone, but with planning and a bit of saving, they may be the answer many need to expand life’s opportunities for loved family members and friends with disabilities.

There is also an option available for those who just want to help the effort as a whole ---supporting a foundation that will help those people with disabilities without benefactors.
