Really Senator Davis?

Its campaign season! It's easy to tell because people are getting argumentative!

Too bad they can't argue about the issues without throwing punches at innocent bystanders. Witness the following excerpts from a press release issued by Senator Paul Davis from District 27.

"SPIN MACHINE BREAKS DOWN IN SPEAKER'S OFFICE
by Senator Paul Davis
Date: July 20, 2006

On Wednesday Speaker of the House John Richardson held an impromptu news conference. Press accounts of the event have left me wondering exactly what the Democrats are thinking.

I should begin by telling you that in addition to being a personal friend of Senator Woodcock, I also serve as co–Chair of his campaign team. But that relationship doesn't color my impression of Wednesday's news conference.

The Speaker went on to blame President Bush, which seems to have become a sort of Tourette's Syndrome among Democrats.

it is unfortunate to see the Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives… slinging personal attacks against the character of an honorable man like Chandler Woodcock. I would hope we hear an apology from the Speaker. I would also hope that he apologizes to the right person.

More information? What sort of information might we get? What was Paul Davis Thinking? Would Mr. Davis be able to explain "a sort of Tourette's Syndrome"? And, would he be able to explain who should apologize to whom? And just who "the right person" is?
If you have read this far, I can only offer you contact information and ask you to do the right thing. After numerous terms in the Maine Senate, holding a prominent co–chairmanship of a campaigner for Maine's Governor, having a wife and two children, doesn't Paul Davis realize what he has done?

Can you help him understand that Tourette's Syndrome is a disability? Can we all help him understand that it isn't funny or cute to compare disabilities to some habit he finds annoying or excessive?
Words hurt, and Mr. Davis will never know who his raw ignorance has hurt, misinformed, or angered.

Information on Tourette's Syndrome and the Tourette's Syndrome Association is in an accompanying article. You can use it to help people understand!
