A draft policy, standards and best practices for "Accessible Documents and Effective Comminication" are being considered for adoption by the Office of Information Technology. The policy, standards, and best practices are posted on the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services website at www.state.me.us/rehab/access_docs.htm. I would appreciate any comments you provide and welcome any questions. Please send comments by November 12, 2006 to:

Earlier drafts of this policy have been discussed with many state departments , and most of the recommendations that were made have been incorporated. In September, the Information Technology Accessibility Committee recommended adoption of this draft policy, and now we would like to hear any stakeholder comments.
